PEACE

John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

In today's world, we face many struggles, from skyrocketing gas prices to chronic unemployment, terrorism, and everything in between. Because of the several different stressors pulling, pushing, and twisting around us on an almost continual basis throughout the day, many of us today have been feeling squished, squashed, and smothered with stress, hypertension, and the shear heaviness of modern society. Unfortunately, a growing number of individuals have fallen into excessive drug and alcohol use in an attempt to escape the difficulties and pressures of the current environment; however, there is another way.

Jesus tells us in John chapter 14 that He is the Way, the Truth, and the Light; however, He also tells us that when you have Faith and Believe in Him, you have Faith and Believe in the Father, the one who sent Him. Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, He was born of a virgin, He walked the Earth preaching, teaching, and working miracles, He was tortured, Crucified and buried; however, on the third day He rose again. This is the basis of the Christian Faith and the foundation on which we stand; knowing and believing that Jesus has gone to reunite with the Father in Heaven and that He will return to gather His people, this is the Hope that we as believers share with one another; however, there is something more, the Peace of God.

"Peace I Leave With You, My Peace I Give Unto You" these are the words of Jesus Christ spoken to the Disciples in Bethany shortly after the Passover meal, it is a promise that has stood the test of time, it is a promise that God can be held to, that even through the harshest of times, He will give you Peace. So remember, no matter what you may be going through, Jesus will give you the Peace that surpasses all understanding, this is God's Promise to you.
